A timepiece that combines Nordic history and award-winning design.

The city of Hamburg represents one thing to us above all: home. However, this world-renowned harbor metropolis is not solely defined by the well-known districts and of course The Beatles in the wild 60s. It also encompasses a hidden pearl in the North German coastal landscape – Neuwerk.

And it is precisely this tiny island in the Heligoland Bight that serves as the inspiration for our newest and highly anticipated timepiece – the STERNGLAS Hamburg Automatik Edition Neuwerk. This watch is a heartfelt tribute to the small North Sea island of Hamburg and a symbol of our love for our hometown.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

Experience the fascination of the Wadden Sea.

Limited to just 1,999 pieces, this special edition exudes a unique aesthetic charm. The satin-finished dial, with its subtle curvature and stormy gray 42mm diameter dial, reminiscent to the rugged North Sea.

The four orange dots, along with the skeleton turquoise hands and signal red buoy-inspired seconds hand, provide a striking visual contrast. The practical date display positioned at 6 o'clock completes the dial.

Edition engraving "Historic Lighthouse" from Neuwerk

The special edition engraving on the caseback shows one of the famous and historic horse-drawn carriage known as the "Wattwagen” (engl. mud flat carriage) in front of the island's landmark - the historic Neuwerk lighthouse, which, at 700 years old, is also the oldest building in Hamburg.

Inside the 12 mm high case works the reliable, mechanical three-hand movement 8215 from the Japanese manufacturer Miyota, ensuring accurate timekeeping.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

The engine on your wrist: the Miyota 8215

The Miyota 8215 automatic movement has been produced by the renowned manufacturer Miyota since 1977. Since then, it has established itself as robust and reliable in the watch world.

A 42-hour power reserve, hacking seconds and a date function make the mechanical movement a reliable companion in everyday life.

Vintage Italian Leather Strap

The velvety soft interchangeable strap made of Italian vintage leather captivates with its striking cut edge and the two-tone 'pull-up effect'.

External influences allow the leather to mature over time, creating the unique vintage look.

Made with great care by our German partner leather manufacturer.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

Any questions left?

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We will be happy to check whether we can realise your desired combination. Please contact us by e-mail at support@sternglas.com and we will help you personally.

How is the movement maintained?

We recommend that you have your watch serviced every 3-5 years if it is used daily.

Since there are oils and resins in the watch that can dry out over time, they should be replaced regularly, otherwise mechanical abrasion or bearing damage can occur in the movement. Seals should be checked every 5 years and replaced if necessary, crown and barrel every ten years. This ensures that you will enjoy your mechanical watch for a long time.

You can have your watch serviced directly by our watch service or by one of our specialist retail partners in your area.
